How To Clean Your Baby’s Crib Without Chemicals

Mommies know that “accidents” happen all the time and that you cannot use harsh chemicals on anything touching the sensible skin of the baby. But how to clean your baby’s crib and get rid of the smell, without using chemicals than may harm your baby?

Among the best non-chemical products which can get rid of smell and clean at the same time, there is the very efficient and surprising baking soda.

What is baking soda actually?

Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is actually a chemical compound, but it is not harmful for the skin. Quite the opposite. It does wonders for your face and not only. Used properly, it can even be considered as medicine. Among its wonderful uses we find it helpful in stomach aches, being an efficient antiacid, congestive heart failure, poison oak skin irritation, and many more. But I repeat, when used properly.

It is also great for your oral hygiene. Just add it to your toothpaste and it helps with teeth whitening and plaque removal.

Mixed with plain water into a smooth paste, it is a great cleaning ally. You can use it to clean and deodorize your baby’s crib without worrying afterwards. You will also need a vacuum cleaner.

If your little one had an accident, here’s how you clean the mattress:

Spread on baking soda and start rubbing. You can also use white vinegar along with the baking soda. But don’t pour the vinegar on the mattress. After spreading the baking soda, and rubbed it, get a regular dish sponge and put a few drops of white vinegar on. Don’t over do it. A few drops will do just fine. Rub the baking soda with the sponge. Leave it for a few minutes to dry and thoroughly vacuum everything up.

Your baby’s crib mattress should now be clean and odorless.
